The announcement was made during the perspective plan meeting held by the university last week wherein regions where there are few health science colleges, will be sanctioned new ones to balance out the difference and bring those regions at par with metropolitan areas with regards to health services availability. “The feedback from these meetings was also included while preparing the five-year perspective plan,” said the spokesperson. “
The plan will now be sent to the government for final approval and implementation. The perspective plan has received the go-ahead from the academic and management council of the university that had approved the proposal in February itself. The meeting was chaired by the newly-appointed vice-chancellor Dr Dilip Mhaisekar and registrar Dr Kashinath Gharkal.
